Law enforcement memorial vandalism – Rochester, MN

May 7, 2026

The Rochester Police Department is investigating after the Rochester law enforcement memorial was vandalized this week.

According to Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, the sheriff's office found out about the vandalism on Monday morning with Sheriff Torgerson saying it likely happened between 2-6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Sheriff Torgerson said the vandalism was intended to change a quote on the memorial.

The quote, "Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid" was made to look as if it read "Evil is power if the good are afraid."
