Spectrum fiber lines that were cut at an undisclosed location in the Coachella Valley over the weekend caused a multi-hour disruption to internet, cable and phone services for some residents.
Spectrum customers in several valley cities were impacted by the vandalism, which occurred Saturday night, according to company spokesperson Dennis Johnson.
"All services were restored by Sunday morning for any customers in the Desert Cities who experienced a disruption due to the vandalism," Johnson said in an emailed statement. "We appreciate our customers' patience as we made the necessary repairs as quickly as possible."
Several cities in the valley, including Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Indio, Desert Hot Springs, Rancho Mirage and La Quinta, were impacted. The service outage also extended to Yucca Valley.
Johnson declined to say where the vandalism occurred, but Spectrum officials filed a report with police. It's unclear which law enforcement agency received the report, and a spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department was unable to find any information or reports of the incident.
