Southbound I-5 commuters were greeted the morning of June 26th to three banners dropped over the 45th st, 50th st and 70th st overpasses in Seattle.
The banners read "STOP COP-CITY" "RIP TORTUGUITA", in solidarity with the fight against Cop City and in memorial of Manuel 'Tortuguita' Terán, a gender non-conforming activist who was murdered by Atlanta PD while defending the Weelaunee forest.
On the heels of Seattle's corporate-sponsored Pride weekend, we remember our queer siblings who are killed by the same governments and corporations that feign tolerance and inclusion until we become a thorn in their side. May these thorns infect and destroy this bureaucratic machine.
REST IN PEACE TORTUGUITA
COP CITY WILL NEVER BE BUILT.
