A Vermont man has been charged with arson after police said he burned an American flag and tried to burn a public Christmas tree last week.
The Barre City Police Department charged [name], 29, after they said he started a dumpster fire near Wobby Park on Nov. 25 and also left a burned American flag on a police cruiser.
Officers located the burned flag on the roof of one of the cruisers near the dumpster fire, along with cigarette butts scattered on the hoods of several cruisers nearby.
The following morning, police said they were called to City Hall Park after the city Christmas Tree was found knocked over. Surveillance video showed [name] trying to light the tree on fire before knocking it over.
Surveillance video also showed [name] setting the dumpster fire and vandalizing the police cruisers.
